Travel, parking & road closures

You have to get here to enjoy the Festival, and we want to help you do that!

The Folk Festival takes place in the centre of Wimborne Minster, Dorset.

By road

Wimborne Minster is just off the A31 in east Dorset. Roads lead to the town from Canford Bottom, Merley and Lake Gates roundabouts on the A31. You can also reach Wimborne from the B3078.

This part of Dorset is very popular with holidaymakers, weekend visitors and day trippers. Whichever day you're travelling to Wimborne, aim to get here early in the day to avoid the traffic.

By train

Nearest train station is Poole, with a good service* on the Weymouth to London Waterloo line. (*Check for any industrial action or engineering works before travelling)

There’s a taxi rank directly outside; Wimborne is approximately 6.5 miles away. Alternatively, Poole Bus Station is a couple of minutes’ walk, with a regular service to/from Wimborne. See More Bus timetable.

Bournemouth station is on the same Weymouth to Waterloo line but further away from Wimborne.

By bus

A variety of local buses run to Wimborne.
